As a maternity photographer in Surrey, I’ve photographed many expectant couples. This photoshoot, however, was a little bit different… in fact, it was a real surprise!

The couple in question had been surprised by their friends, who had given them a couples maternity photoshoot as a gift. Cue me arriving for their very own photoshoot in the garden of their Surrey family home.

The lucky couple thought they were heading out for a smart Sunday lunch, and had dressed to impress for the occasion. But instead, their day evolved into fun garden BBQ at home with their own photoshoot to capture some beautiful shots.

We spent the afternoon chatting about baby names, what plans they had, and enjoyed the afternoon, with lots of laughs.

What week should you do maternity pictures?

I often get asked this, and the answer really depends on you and your pregnancy. For this couple, they are still in the first half pregnancy. If you’d like to capture a fuller baby bump then I recommend scheduling your maternity photoshoot for when you are between 30 weeks pregnant and 35 weeks pregnant. This allows us to photograph you with a fuller baby bump, but hopefully before you get too uncomfortable in the later stages of pregnancy.

I am always able to adapt to you and the requirements of your family however.

If you are expecting a baby and would like to capture this special time, please contact me, maternity photographer in Surrey. I would love to record some natural and timeless photographs of this important life stage. Or if you would like to arrange for a maternity photoshoot as a gift, I’d also love to hear from you!
