Unique and meaningful Mother's Day Gifts

March 02, 2018  •  Leave a Comment

Mother's Day is nearly here, and if you haven't yet bought a gift for the special mum in your life, then here is some useful inspiration!

You can purchase all of these special Mother's Day gifts from the warmth of your own home, without having to venture out into the cold snow. Some of these gifts are also produced by small businesses in the UK, and supporting these is always a lovely thing to do.

I've tried to compile a selection of gift ideas which will be meaningful, loved and treasured by your mum, your grandmother or your partner. Whatever your budget, I hope you'll find something suitable. My test for including things in this blog post, is would I like to receive it? If the answer was yes, then it made the cut! Now, I wonder if my husband is reading this....

My Litte Sunshine Keepsakes

My Little Sunshine

These personalised gifts and keepsakes are handmade to order by the wonderful Helen. This crafty lady (who is also a mummy of two) is a champion on the sewing machine, and stitches beautiful decorative family trees, embroiders cushions with your child's drawing, or even stitches your child's handwriting into fabric before framing it for display in your home. Truely unique and utterly personal, My Little Sunshine can provide beautiful bespoke gifts for Mother's Day.

A Special Cake

Naomi's Bakhouse Mother's Day Cake

If I receive anything close to this cake on Mother's Day, I'll be a happy camper. A cake that I don't make myself is a real treat. A cake that isn't a child's cupcake covered in slopping icing and a Peppa Pig motif is a real treat. And a cake from Naomi's Bakehouse is really something else :)

This year, Naomi is offering Mother’s Day 6” cakes for only £30. Serving 10-12 people, the cakes are beautifully iced and filled with homemade jams and buttercream. The area available in vanilla, chocolate and lemon and are delivered for free in Walton, Weybridge and surrounding areas. I have been the lucky consumer of several of Naomi's cakes, and they never disappoint. Get in quick though, because orders must be received by Sunday 4th March.

If you don't live near Naomi, then a cake-baker near you might just have a similarly delicious offering!

A Family Photography Session

You didn't think I'd let this blog post go by without mentioning the thing I'm most passionate about, did you? If I was gifted a family photography session for Mother's Day, I would be OVER THE MOON! As mums, we are so rarely in photographs with our children. It's really important that my children don't look back on photographs of their childhood and ask 'where was mummy?'. Similarly I really want to record memories of my children with their grandparents, so that they can look back on them in years to come, and even show them to their children.

This gift is priceless, it's timeless, and even better it's effortless to buy :) You can purchase a gift voucher for a bespoke family photography session for your family right here.

I create emotive and stunning family photographs for you to treasure forever. My families take home memorable photographs, crafted with love and care, which convey emotional connection and genuine happiness.  I am based in Walton on Thames, and travel to your home or many stunning locations across Surrey and South West London. I also have access to beautiful private Surrey woodland for your photography session.

All of my gift vouchers include your photography session AND a choice of images. You won't have to spend any more money to take home your favourite photographs.

If a full photography session is beyond your needs or your budget, then consider a gift voucher for one of my mini photography sessions in the Surrey Lavender Fields. These always sell out and provide stunning images for your wall or albums.

A Day at Nirvana Spa

Nirvana Spa

My favourite luxury treat is a day at the spa, and if that spa is Nirvana in Berkshire, then it's my lucky day. I am more than happy to make the hour journey from my home to visit this slice of paradise.

The goal at Nirvana is to make you feel like you're on holiday, and that they do. I love the variety of pools, relaxation rooms, luxurious treatments and delicious lunch options. A gift voucher for Nirvana Spa is certain to go down well.

A Thermomix

The ultimate luxury cooking appliance. If the mum in your life loves cooking, then the chances are she will love one of these gadgets. When I lived in Australia, these were all the rage, and I'm noticing that they are now starting to become really popular in the UK too. The Thermomix claims to be the world's most intelligent food processor. You can weigh, chop, blend, mix, grind, grate, cook, steam, whisk, knead and more. It professes to save you time, and also money in the long run - because you are more likely to cook delicious meals from scratch rather than buying processed convenience foods. I'm far from a whizz in the kitchen, and I love the idea of this encouraging me to cook delicious meals for my family from scratch.

This gadget is not one you can pick up in the shops, but if you've got a big enough budget (these little gems retail for around £1,000) then you can buy from one of the company' advisors here. If you live in the Walton/Hersham or local areas, then your local advisor is Kirstie Aitkin. You can reach her on kirstie_aitken@hotmail.co.uk or 07803 438 359.
